2. Was Luke a Gentile, a Proselyte or a Jew?
The question of Luke's ethnicity may seem pointless to some, but it is in fact a very crucial and pivotal debate. It may very well affect every Bible commentary, sermon and textual study on the Gospel of Luke.
Is the longest gospel a Gentile composition from a Gentile perspective in a Gentile language addressing a Gentile audience? Or was it originally a Jewish composition from a Jewish perspective in a Jewish language intended first and foremost for a Jewish audience?
